Dear Parishioners of St. Bernard of Clairvaux and St. Stanislaus Kostka Church:
Archbishop John J. Myers has prepared a pastoral reflection – “When Two Become One” – on the definition, purpose and sanctity of marriage. You may view and read this pastoral reflection by clicking on “Pastoral Teaching” here. His Grace has also prepared an “Executive Summary” of the Reflection and you may view and read this by clicking on “Executive Summary” here.
The Archbishop also prepared a letter to all the people of the Archdiocese as an introduction to his pastoral reflection and has directed that it be read at all the Masses on the weekend of September 30th, which we have done. We are also making this letter available for your viewing and reading by clicking on “Archbishop’s Letter” here.
The information that is available here on our website can also be found on the Archdiocesan website: www.rcan.org; and, the pastoral reflection is also available in “The Catholic Advocate.”
The pastoral reflection reaffirms the two millennia-old teaching of the Church on marriage as the union of one man and one woman. It also addresses how civilizations throughout and even before the days of recorded history have viewed marriage, and why this definition must remain so today and into the future.
In the love of God,
Fr. Frank Rose
